march madness

those who enjoy laughing at my sports ignorance (and I know there are several who read this blog) can visit Morgan's website to see my bracket. Even though I used ESPN to construct the bracket, I didn't taint my ignorance by reading the information provided and trying to make educated guesses. No, no, I went with the same strategy I used last year: random guessing. Sometimes I selected schools I am not mad at to beat schools I am mad at, but not in any systematic way. So basically there is little/no pride on the line for me. That's the way I like it.

I'm in the Fun Guessing Game pool on facebook. I did similar, except I found out there's a school with the same name as my favorite theorist so I had them win, Go Butler!

I'm opposed to March Madness. Clearly, college basketball is more than a mindless diversion... it's a distraction from the truly important matter facing our country, which is that Major League Baseball begins on April 1.

No no, that's part of the beauty of March Madness--the championship game is on the same day as opening day for baseball, so there is no lull in between seasons. It goes from one exciting ending straight into an exciting and fresh beginning, and the tournament keeps me from stressing out about the white sox' spring training record and their starting pitchers' terrible ERAs.

Ok, so I'm sort of off by one evening about opening day if you want to get technical and include the ESPN ratings special opening night game on Sunday.
